Your Comfort Zone Will Kill You

I was scrolling on IG the other day and saw these six words so eloquently put together, YOUR COMFORT ZONE WILL KILL YOU! My initial reaction was “DANG‼️that’s harsh” but then I continued to let it sink in and a WOW moment ✨ happened. The words really sunk in. The more and more I thought 💭 about it, I realized the true intent of these 6 words. To further digest this phrase I thought I would break it down. So here goes nothing! 

YOUR – a sense of ownership and belonging. Webster defines your as of or relating to one or oneself. 

COMFORT – happy place; coziness; a state where you can let your hair down. Webster defines comfort as a satisfying or enjoyable experience; contented well-being.

ZONE – space, area, life. Webster defines zone as a region or area set off as distinct from surrounding or adjoining parts. 

WILL – indefinitely; without permission. Webster defines will as used to express inevitability. 

KILL – destruction; demise. Webster defines kill as to deprive of life; to put an end to. 

YOU – oneself. Webster defines you as the one or ones being addressed. 

Taking this phrase a part brings a new revelation. You, no one else, can deprive yourself of life by staying in the state of satisfaction and contentment. 

Don’t get me wrong, it’s ok to celebrate 🎉 your wins and bask in your successes, but to get stuck in the “comfort zone” yields and hinders your growth. 

Time and time again we get upset for not being where we want or not getting what we want but it’s ultimately all up to us. We all have the same 24 hours in a day and the same 364 days in a year. It’s up to us what we will do with it. 

No one can push you to greatness like you can. No one can cheer you on like you can. No one can do YOU like you can. 

I’m excited for WHAT’S NEXT. I have no idea what God has in store, but I declared that this year is the year of YASSSS and I’m going to continue to walk in that knowing that great things are coming my way…you should too! 

With the year coming to an end and as the holiday frills feel the atmosphere, don’t forget to reflect on you. Where are you? Where do you want to be? What’s stopping you? You have the power of creation and destruction in your hands, but it’s all up to you which you will choose. 

Don’t get ever get too comfortable with contentment, you are fearfully and wonderfully made and it’s time now that you BOSS UP and truly show what you’re really made of.
