GOAL DIGGER: It’s a state of mind

GOAL DIGGER!!! (not to be mistaken by its distant cousin that Kanye’s song so vividly speaks about!) We have heard this term used a lot more frequently now, especially after Beyonce’s Run The World debut. What exactly does it mean though? The urban dictionary defines a GOAL DIGGER as a person who desires wealth in all areas of life; seeks the secrets of the millionaire mind; has the smarts, optimism, integrity, and passion to do it themselves. That’s a great definition but to me you need to put your own flare on it to truly grasp and exemplify the meaning.

So what does GOAL DIGGER mean to me?

A person who exceeds their norm and puts their best foot forward to get things done – in all aspects of life

A person who embodies discipline to not only reach their goals, but be a resource to help others do the same

A person who thrives on self-improvement

A person who has the drive, stamina, knowledge, and creativity to tackle anything thrown at them that may hinder them from achieving their goals

A person who does what makes them happy and has the ambition and self-motivation to keep going no matter what others may say

On this journey called life you want to remember that this is YOURS (and you only get one, so you have to make it count!). You may be a mommy, a sister, a daughter, a teacher, a preacher or even a lawyer, but first and foremost you are YOU!

We all have this idea of what we are “supposed” to be doing based on what is around us and what “looks” good. I’ll never forget I told myself in high school that I would be married, with two kids, driving a black Range Rover by the age of 25 and I’m here to tell you that none of that is true and I’m fine with that…now. Once I got over myself and came to my senses (LOL!) I truly started evaluating my goals for ME! I stopped comparing myself to others my age and truly focused on what I wanted and wanted out of life.

Being a GOAL DIGGER doesn’t have set qualifications or even a set definition. If you are passionately achieving the goals you set for yourself then you hold the title too! Life is never a race, but a beautiful journey composed of ups and downs and twists and turns…but it’s YOURS! Greatness takes perseverance…Rome, Noah’s Ark and even Mall of America were not built in a day, they took time, effort and lots of planning. Remember that!!

2018 is flying by (Hello May!!!). In this year of YASSSS we need to stay ready, so we don’t have to get ready!!! With the second quarter just beginning let’s do a quick mental check. Let’s get READY by holding our heads high, straightening our crowns (we are royalty, you know!) and embodying the GOAL DIGGER mentality. Let’s SET out to do our very best to accomplish the goals we choose for ourselves. When it’s all said and done, let’s ACHIEVE greatness, GOAL DIGGER!!
